Alone Together
Love Your Block created a Acts of Kindness Grants in response to Covid-19. Here we connected with Community Leaders who built community despite the crisis! We gave out as many as 28 grants of $250 - $350 to neighbors and groups who have come up with creative ways to build community during these times of social distancing. Whether that is picking up essentials for those who cannot go to the store, leaving notes of encouragement on neighbors doorsteps, making masks, or other more creative ways of helping your community during these times, we support you! Here are the projects Love Your Block Assisted with:
Sew Loved
Perfect Protection
Sew Loved launched a project to make face masks with better filtration than cotton for essential workers on the front line of fighting the Covid19 virus. They raised the money required to acquire the fabric, have it robotically cut and distributed to 400 regional volunteer home sewers. We have about 90,000 masks in the pipeline about 1/2 of which have already been delivered.
Lincoln Bendix Park
Extending WiFi for The Community
Lincoln Bendix Park wants to extend WiFi six hundred feet from the building and provide tablets for residents to complete school work and apply for social services
Free Your Wings Youth Mentoring
Swag Mask
Free Your Wings is currently designing 100 masks that will be distributed to the community between this current month and next month. Grant money will assist with making more masks and necessities to assist displaced youth in the communities of Saint Joseph County.
